Three years ago Maple Grove teen and musician Hunter Fraser hosted his first fundraising concert, "Haiti Fest" for a missions trip to Haiti with his church, Open Door. This year, his sister Delaney will be making the same journey with a group of 13 others. On Sunday May 31st Hunter and Maple Grove band Family Three will be shutting down the entire street at 90th Place North in Maple Grove to raise funds for three fellow musicians to experience Mephibosheth House.
Open Door has partnered with a church in Haiti for the past 28 years and looks forward to having this year's group of 14 come to their country to care for handicapped children and assist in light construction at the Mephibosheth House.
The first year he hosted the concert Hunter raised $1200 while entertaining over 200 friends/family. The next year a number of guys wanted to go on the trip a second year so they repeated the event drawing over 250 people raising $1400 even with a little rain.
On Sunday afternoon local band Family Three will headline the concert along with Hunter. Delaney and two of her fellow missionaries will also be taking the stage, playing and singing to make their trip a reality.
"I'm happy to help my sister, Sam and Tanner fund their Haiti trip. The joy of the Haitians is incredible in the face of such difficult living conditions. That joy has changed my outlook and I want these guys to see that too," said Hunter.
