For Chris Spah, daily work turned into a hobby. As a graphic designer, he is always using photos for the websites he creates. “I always need more photos than what is given to me, so I started [photography] in my free time and it turned into another type of art,” Spah says.

Sitting down for a conversation with WWII decorated war veteran Joe Kovar quickly becomes a lesson in world history. Kovar, a 1943 graduate of Anoka High School, joined the Army shortly after graduation and traveled to Georgia to receive infantry basic training.

“I always look for things,” Samantha Eyre explains of her photographic eye. “I don’t always have my camera, but I like to look for things everywhere I go.”

When it comes to choosing holiday gifts, sometimes you just have to pick the goods that catch your eye. This year, we let the colors guide us. We’ve selected items from local stores that pop with gold, red or green.

The McBride sisters, Meghan and Elizabeth, are no doubt wishing they were back in sunny Captiva, Florida, right about now. Perhaps another look at that July issue of Maple Grove Magazine will bring back memories of the summer of 2015.

They’ve turned the page on early life and know how to have fun. It’s Thursday night. They drink wine together. They read together. They venture into new experiences together, but mostly, they share their lives.
